Ballarat's annual Biggest Book Bonanza was a huge success with thousands of dollars raised and more than 6000 books sold or donated to overseas children's reading programs in Timor-Leste and Sulawesi in Indonesia.
The Rotary Club of Ballarat East, which organised the successful drive earlier this month, will donate most of the profits raised back into local charitable organisations.
They will also contribute some of the funds towards the Rotary's response to natural disasters as well as some international projects like Polio Plus, in conjunction with the World Health Organisation, which aims to rid the world of polio.
Organisers of the successful event said they appreciated all the individuals and organisations in the community who helped them to achieve the result.
