A special international livecast will kick off this year’s 3BA’s annual Christmas Appeal.
Maestro Dutch violinist André Rieu will be beamed live to Regent Cinemas in two concerts at the end of the month, with funds raised for the appeal.
Appeal director Peter Caligari said Rieu would be livecast from his home town in the Netherlands.
“André Rieu is a renowned international performer and it’s a wonderful opportunity for Ballarat people to enjoy what will be his first-ever Christmas concert,” Mr Caligari said.
He said every year, the number of Ballarat families needing help over Christmas increased.
Regent Cinemas fundraising manager John Bourke said the theatre had been supporting the appeal for its 37-year history.
He said the concert would be broadcast with exceptional sound and picture quality.
Tickets are $40 for the concerts, which will be held November 26 and 27.
Tickets are available by phoning 0418 578 016.
The 3BA Christmas Appeal is seeking donations of cash, toys and food items, which will be distributed to families in need via Uniting Care, Anglicare, the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul.
Donations can be left at 56 Lydiard Street North.
