Organisers are pleased with the turnout to the Ballarat Bonsai Society’s yearly exhibition.
The exhibition, which ran at the Ballarat Botanic Gardens Robert Clarke Centre on Saturday and Sunday, saw local gardeners present their best trees for the enjoyment of Ballarat’s bonsai enthusiasts.
Bonsai is a Japanese art form using trees grown in containers.
Ballarat Bonsai Society president Murray Alpen said he was “exceptionally pleased” with the attendance.
“We had good crowds on Saturday and it was steady on Sunday,” Mr Alpen said.
“It’s (the event) been going for quite a while. It’s the only one where have all our high quality trees on show.
“We had a number of different trees on show and we were very pleased with the numbers of native trees on display.
“We had a good mixture of conifers as well as miniature bonsais.”
Plants were available for sale across the weekend, while tips were also available on how maintain the trees.
