Bacchus Marsh premiership hero Travis Hodgson is a finalist for the AFL Victoria senior coach of the year.
Hodgson led Bacchus Marsh to its first Ballarat Football League premiership in his first season with the Cobras.
It was also Bacchus Marsh’s first finals series since 2001.
Hodgson is vying with Tim Foley (South Colac), Jaye Macumber (Minyip Murtoa) and Harmit Singh (Northcote Park) for the award.
The state’s best coaches, volunteers and umpires will be honoured at the AFL Victoria Community Football Awards on Friday night.
This is the second year of the awards, which are an amalgamation of the traditional Australian Football Coaches Association and AFL Auskick volunteer awards.
Ryan Keating from Redan is the AFL Goldfields contender for the AFL Auskick coach of the year, which has 24 finalists.
NEXT year’s AFL Victoria Community Championship will be be played on Saturday, May 13. The fixtures are yet to be confirmed.
