Reigning champion Darren Windus will be aiming to finish the Victorian Rally Championship on a high on home ground this weekend.
Windus goes into Sunday’s Ballarat Light Car Club Begonia Rally with another title in his keeping.
He is coming off a victory in the Melbourne University Car Club-run Akademos in the state’s north-east.
Windus, a BLCC member, will combine with co-driver Jamie Sargeant in the sixth and final round of the championship, which also features a round of the Victorian Noted Rally Series.
The rally will comprise two heats made up of about 130km of competitive and 170km of transport sections with a 9am start, halfway service and finish at the Ballarat Light Car Club near the aiport.
The 40 drivers have entered the event, which will take in roads through the Sulky, Creswick, Clunes, Talbot and Caralulup areas.
Two stages will be over the sprint distance of 1.6km at the light car club.
The Begonia Rally is a prelude to a round of the Australian championship, the Eureka Rally, in Ballarat on March 17-19 next year.
