The Victoria Police air wing and dog squad were called in to help find and arrest a 29-year-old man who was allegedly driving a stolen ute erratically and dangerously across Ballarat.

Ballarat Senior Sergeant Neale Robinson said police initiated a pursuit with the allegedly stolen ute in Fussell Street at 8.45pm on Sunday.
The driver was seen driving around the roundabout in the wrong direction and drove through a red light, police allege.
“The driver of the stolen car was driving in a manner deemed to pose a serious risk to other road users,” Senior Sergeant Robinson said.
The air wing took over the pursuit and ground units withdrew, he said.
Senior Sergeant Robinson said the vehicle was tracked to Hill Street where the driver allegedly fled on foot and ran into the backyard of a Humffray Street South property.
“The police dog squad also attended and a 29-year-old Ballarat man was arrested by the K9 unit under direction from the air wing,” Senior Sergeant Robinson said.
The man was taken to Ballarat Police Station where he was charged and bailed to appear before the Ballarat Magistrates Court.
