Central Goldfields Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man after a number of farm fences were damaged near Maryborough earlier this year.
Police said the damage caused to the fences had been sizeable and had a significant impact on local farmers.
Police received about 79 reports of incidents where farm fencing had been damaged in areas including St Arnaud, Emu, Bealiba, Burkes Flat and Archdale from January to July.
More incidents were believed to have occurred in December.
A 27-year-old Bealiba man was interviewed on Wednesday morning and had been released pending further enquiries.
