City FC coach Danny Gnjidic said last season’s FFA Cup quarter finalist would provide a genuine test for his squad.
“They’ve recruited well and will be quality opposition.”
With Ballarat’s NPL2 West Vic season opener against Brunswick City just eight days away on Sunday, February 4, Gnjidic plans to field his strongest team against Green Gully while at the same time giving players every chance to stake a claim.
The majority of players are available for the outing.
“There’s still spots up for grabs.”
He said there had been several players emerge during the pre-season with strong performances.
This will be Ballarat’s sixth pre-season hit out – all against NPL teams.
Gnjidic said his squad was well prepared and ready to make an impact.
“We’re in a good place.”
City FC has until the middle of next week to lodge its final squad of 20-23.
The newly formed Ballarat City FC, which replaces the disbanded Ballarat Red Devils, launches its season with a function at Morshead Park on Saturday, when the club’s new home strip is also expected to be unveiled.
