An ultra-light tanker stolen during a burglary on a CFA complex at Coimadai overnight has been located in Melton.
The tanker was located about 1pm after a person recognised the vehicle from media reports and notified police.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the burglary and are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
Firefighters were alarmed when they discovered an ultralight fire tanker had been stolen from a CFA complex near Bacchus Marsh overnight.
Moorabool Criminal Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to help locate the ultralight tanker. A defibrillator and chainsaw were also stolen during the robbery.
Detectives believe unknown offenders broke into the fire station on Russells Road in Coimadai between 11:30pm last night and 7am this morning.
The tanker is a white Nissan Patrol with CFA markings and a silver back tray.
The exact circumstances of the burglary are yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing.
