A CFA spokesperson said the fire had covered a small area of a blue gum plantation following an escaped burn off and that firefighters quickly attended the scene.
Ballarat City Fire Brigade Senior Station Officer David Mounier said “about five or six” resources had been dispatched to extinguish the fire including tankers and a water bombing helicopter.
The CFA spokesperson said there had been no injuries or damage to property as a result of the fire.
The area will continued to be monitored throughout the evening.
