Gold Diggers made the most of playing on their home patch to pick up a title in the Victorian Masters Baseball Carnival in Ballarat on Sunday.
They defeated Pandas 5-2 in the 45-year plus final at Prince of Wales Park on Sunday after going through the preliminary rounds unbeaten.
Gold Diggers have been involved in the event since its inception 2001 – four years after they first mooted the event with the running of the Ballarat Masters Games, which included baseball.
While Pandas missed out in that division, they made it three consecutive 35-plus title by crushing Big Cat Tomatoes 10-1.
Coburg downed Big Cat Tomatoes 4-0 In the 50-plus final after three days of competition.
The carnival attracted almost 400 players for the seventh year it has been back in Ballarat after a stint in Geelong. Entries include teams from Tasmania, Latrobe Valley, Geelong, Werribee, Bendigo, north-east Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne.
