On Friday some of CDC Ballarat’s bus drivers will ditch the regular work wear in favour of the traditional dress of their country with the aim of generating discussion about diversity.

The initiative, which is taking place in conjunction with Harmony Week, will see posters put up in buses explaining the alternative uniform and encouraging commuters to get to know each other’s backgrounds.
CDC service delivery manager Glenn Mackenzie said about 20 per cent of the company’s 97 bus drivers were born overseas.
“In the last 12 to 18 months we’ve had the chance to employ people from different cultures and this gives us an opportunity to gain a better understanding of those cultures and ask people about their background.”
