Short has been recovering from ruptured ligaments in his ankle and will be a key addition to the side as it prepares for its South East Australian Basketball League clash with the undefeated Pioneers.
Coach Eric Hayes said Short will “add another dimension” to its line-up. This week will be a test for the Miners, Hayes said the focus would be on its defensive structures.
“They’ve been a grand final team the last couple of years and they’ve kept the group together over a long period of time. They’re certainly going to be a tough team this season,” Hayes said.
“I don’t think it matters which team we play, we’ve talked about some things that we need to do defensively to give us a chance to win games...and any team that we play we’ll look to see where we have a positive advantage and then try to make use of that.”
Tip-off at 8pm.
