Funds raised from this year’s BAD Ride will this year boost Ballarat Hospice Care’s ‘give to help Hospice grow’ building campaign. The event, run by Ballarat Bushwalking and Outdoor Club, has put the call-out for early-bird registrations to the 50 or 107-kilometre courses. Each social ride starts by the lake, travels north of Ballarat and has lunch in Creswick.
Ballarat Hospice Care volunteers manager Karen Taylor said the ride would help reach a broader community in raising awareness about the organisation’s programs.
“People are often more happy to assist when they are comfortable or doing what they love most, like cycling,” Ms Taylor said. “We’ve all be affected by a grief or a loss. It’s nice to know we can reach out to help people in their own homes.”
Early-bird sign-ups close April 27 and go in the draw to win one of two Giant hybrid bikes, donated by Shaw’s Cycling Centre. Details for the May 7 event: badrideballarat.com.au.
