The men’s team went down 4-0 despite a competitive first half. It trailed by just a goal at the long break before Gippsland Bulls took the game away from WestVic with a 13-minute patch that yielded three goals.
The defeat is the first of WestVic’s season and it will be looking to respond when it returns home next week against Casey.
Meanwhile, the women did not fare much better.
It took on the undefeated Powerhouse/St Kilda outfit and it proved too strong for WestVic – prevailing 5-0. Powerhouse/St Kilda were kept scoreless until five minutes out from half-time before it made its presence felt with three goals in quick succession. It’s fourth goal, early in the second half, put any hope of a comeback to rest. WestVic matched the home side in general play in the second half but were unable to trouble the scorers.
