Hannah Flanders, who switched between playing goal shooter and goal attack throughout the match, shot 19 goals, while young Chloe Wilson, who stepped up to the championship side in round two due to team injuries, shot five.
The Sovereigns’ championship side had about half the amount of goal attempts and did not make the most of their chances, shooting at only 57 per cent efficiency in contrast to Melbourne University’s 82 per cent.
But the young team, which has been plagued by injuries, has little time to dwell on missed opportunities.
The Sovereigns have a one day break before returning to SNHC for their match against the sixth-placed City West Falcons, which have one more win, on Friday night.
