Currently performing in My Fair Lady at the historic theatre, his performance skills were developed during his childhood and university days in Ballarat.
Mr Parnis’ features in the blockbuster production as one of the featured quartet singers, in the ensemble and as understudy for the major role of Freddy.
A highlight is the chance to work with the “practically perfect” Julie Andrews, who is directing the show that made her a Broadway star more than 60 years ago.
”We got to meet Julie Andrews in the audition. I wasn’t expecting to see her so soon but she was sitting there behind the desk. She lives up to every expectation that her fans would have of her … kind, maternal and generous,” he said.
Because other performers inspired him as a youngster, Mr Parnis tries to visit his old performing arts studios as often as possible to run workshops and inspire a new generation of performers.
