Phoenix P12 Community College students photographed animals at Wala Animal Sanctuary and YMCA’s Recranked program on two field trips last month.
The project aims to get young people to turn the lens away from themselves and onto social issues, organiser Michelle Dunn said.
Photos were also uploaded to social media to spread awareness of the two causes.
Ms Dunn said the project was a way to teach students how they could use photography as a creative tool and to engage with the community.
The project is an extension of With Camera In Hand’s “Photography Challenges With Heart” which has been run since the start of the year for the general public.
The exhibition of Phoenix College students’ work is at Backspace Gallery, 15 Camp St, Ballarat Central.
All print sales of the students’ work go to Wala Animal Sanctuary and the YMCA Recranked program.
