Her selection in the women’s 20km race walk is her third consecutive start representing Australia at an Olympics or world championships after debuting at the world championships in Beijing in 2015.
Ballarat High School graduate Tallent competed in her first Olympics in Rio in 2016, finishing 40th after returning from a stress reaction in her femur.
Meanwhile, Selma Kajan, who lives in Ballarat when in Australia, placed third in the women’s 800m at the Benifica Athletics Meet in Lisbon.
Former Ballarat runner Ryan Gregson performed strongly at the IAAF Diamond League in Stockholm in the men’s 1500m.
And former Ballarat Clarendon College student Stewart McSweyn took the honours in the men’s 3000m at the Kuortane Games.
