Police have confirmed the fire that gutted FairDinkum Fish and Chips shop at Soldiers Hill was suspicious.
A police media spokesperson said anyone with information about the blaze should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Arson squad officers attended the scene to investigate on Saturday morning.
Nearby residents were evacuated during the blaze and there were no injuries.
Fire crews remained at the shop until 10.30am on Saturday morning.
CFA Senior Station Officer Greg Kinross said firefighters had also taken precautions for possible asbestos in the building.
Police and Country Fire Authority experts will investigate a blaze that gutted a Doveton Street North business on Friday night.
A fire tore through the FairDinkum Fish and Chips shop at Soliders Hill at 11pm.
Four trucks and 20 firefighters responded to the blaze, which took 30 minutes to bring under control.
Crews remained at the scene until 4am to make the building safe.
No one was inside the building or injured during the incident.
CFA Senior Station Officer Greg Kinross said the cause was not yet known.
“Until we determine a cause we will investigate,” he said.
“CFA and police arson squad members will look into it.”
Police also attended the scene.
Building owner Greg Parry said his tenants had turned the business into a popular fish and chip shop during the past nine months.
“It is pretty disappointing, especially for the tenants,” he said.
“It was a good fish and chip shop, but we will rebuild.
“They’ve invested a significant amount and I’d say they’d want to rebuild it too.”
CFA crews also prevented the fire from spreading to other buildings either side of the shop.
