Cancer Council has put out the call for volunteers to sell merchandise on Daffodil Day on August 25.
Mr Petrie said there were Ballarat businesses that got involved by organising staff to work short shifts, others had been personally affected by cancer.
He became involved after working for Cancer Council for 10 years, including time organising Relay for Life.
“You just have to be prepared to help,” Mr Petrie said. “I think there’s a also a lovely level of camaraderie working together on a stall and meeting people you haven’t met before.”
Daffodil Day will mark its 31st anniversary this year with about 1000 volunteers on stalls about the state aiming to raise $1.4 million for Cancer Council’s prevention, research and support programs. To help: daffodilday.com.au or call 1300 65 65 85.
