Some said it “looked like the sky was glowing blue” and others claimed it “lit up the sky”.
Power was cut to thousands of residents about 7pm last night and was not restored until after 9pm.
HOW DID SOCIAL MEDIA REACT?
The fault was detected on Sutton Street according to the Powercor website last night.
Facebook user Josh Goodmnan said he saw an explosion from Carngham Road, while others said they saw flashes in Sturt Street and even as far as Main Road.
Some suburbs, including the majority of Lucas, Delacombe, Wendouree and Redan experienced flicking lights, although the power mostly remained connected.
Powercor has been contacted and The Courier is awaiting comment.
