Now, it seems the phenomenon might have extended to parking in Ballarat.
Spotted near the Ballarat Base Hospital today was a parking machine with used tickets attached to it that still had valid time left on them.
The idea – people could pick up the tickets and use them for their own park without having to part ways with their own shrapnel.
The City of Ballarat even confirmed to The Courier today that the act is actually legal.
The idea of ‘pay it forward’ is not a new one.
In 2000, Catherine Ryan Hyde's novel Pay It Forward was published and adapted into a film of the same name, bringing it to the forefront of people’s minds.
The concept is that one person commit three acts of kindness or generosity to others, who then in turn do the same.
Will it be a concept that will take off for Ballarat parking? Only time will tell.
