The organisation is holding an Oxfam Get Active Session to raise awareness of the work they do in the Ballarat community, aiming to inspire local residents to get involved.
“It’s basically an event to introduce the community to Oxfam and the work we do locally. The event will gauge interest in the Ballarat community in view of developing a base in the city,” Oxfam spokesperson Jessica Wheelock said.
“We do have a couple of great supporters in Ballarat, some thriving volunteers.”
Ms Wheelock said their events are based around campaigning for change and action against poverty and inequality.
“A lot of the stuff we do is around campaigns, and influencing government policies. We are raising awareness through political engagement and company engagement. We hold film nights and speaking events.”
The event will take place on September 16 from 1-3pm at the Ballarat Trades Hall, 24 Camp St, Ballarat.
