The 39 practicing artists that comprise SHAC all live in Ballarat’s oldest suburb of Soldiers Hill.
Mardi Featherston and Magdalene Kazmierczak are two of SHAC’s newest members and find inspiration working with the group and planning various exhibitions.
“We enjoy working in an environment that is not at all elitist, but very welcoming and encouraging to emerging artists,” said Ms Featherston, a digital artist.
Exhibitions feature works in almost every artistic medium, with SHAC members including potters, painters, printmakers, weavers, photographers, graphic artists and sculptors, many of whom have their works on display in Our Place at the Backspace Gallery.
Our Place is open Thursday to Sunday from 12 noon to 4pm at Backspace Gallery until October 8.
