TEACHERS were vying to hit home runs to really get school holiday fun underway.
Softball 7s and croquet were hitting off day three action in the Victorian Teachers Games in Ballarat.
The Games experienced a resurgence in the ball and mallet this year with more than 50 teams signing up for croquet this year.
Traditionally strongly contested sports Netball (mixed and women’s), AFL 9s and soccer were also in play .
There was also plenty of fun, competitive edge on show in social lawn bowls under the Sebastopol Superdome.
More than 2000 primary and secondary teachers from across the state have been out in force to chase school glory that the Games is offering. The Games concludes on Wednesday with a full day’s program.
Up for grabs is the Minister’s Cup awarded to the school team that best exemplifies the spirit of the Games. Ballarat schools, as hosts, will be hoping to capture the honour for the first time.
