Directed by Tim Drylie, the theatre production will tell the tragic story of lowly soldier Franz Woyzeck, who impoverished and in a relationship questioned by the community, takes an opportunity to earn money through the desperate means of becoming a medical experiment.
The Creswick Theatre Company's production of the confronting tale, originally left unfinished by author Georg Buchner, will bring both comedy and seriousness and will address themes of poverty and social conditions.
The event will even offer the possibility for those attending to have their own time in the stage, with two minutes of fame presenting their own poem, song or story from 7-7:30pm before the main show kicks off.
Additional entertainment will include music from cabaret queen Amie Brûlée and Holly Sewell as well as vintage film animation and Woyzeck themed cocktails available from the bar. A prize will also be up for grabs for the best dressed medical professional or vintage cabaret fashion.
Commencing from September 28, Woyzeck will run at the Cabaret Brecht Bar, located at the Creswick Courthouse Theatre on selected dates up until October 7. The show is recommended for ages 15 and above. Bar opens at 7pm, with the play beginning at 7.30pm for a two hour run. Tickets, which are $20 can be booked at woyzeckcabaret.eventbrite.com or by calling 0458516275.
