It’s mystery, mayhem, treasure hunts and secret identities all over in the Ballarat National Theatre’s latest production.
Daisy Pulls It Off is playing at Federation University’s Courthouse House theatre.
If people enjoy the first half, then they are in for a treat when we come back on stage for the second.Liana Skewes
An unashamed parody of the Edwardian flavour for boarding school mysteries and plucky schoolgirls, the play has been a hit since it was first staged in 1983, winning many awards. Working class Daisy Meredith clears the hurdles of snobbery and cruelty to save her school and simultaneously find her father.
Cast member Liana Skewes plays Daisy’s faithful offsider Trixie Martin. Shew says the play is perfect for the school holidays as teenagers will find it both funny and relatable.
“We’ve pulled this together in just six week’s rehearsal; it’s fast, and just gets funnier as the play goes on,” she says.
Now in its 79th season, the Ballarat National Theatre offers a new show every quarter of the year. The show runs this Wednesday to Friday night at 8pm, and a Saturday matinee at 2pm.
