The Emirates Melbourne Cup rode into town as part of a tour of Australia and New Zealand in the lead up to the race that stops a nation next month.
This is the 15th year the Melbourne Cup has made the tour around the country, whipping up excitement for the race in rural and regional towns.
Victorian Racing Club Chairman Amanda Elliot said the organisation were thrilled to be able to give Ballan and surrounding communities a chance to get up close with The Cup.
“The Melbourne Cup is an Australian cultural icon and is truly the People’s Cup so we are delighted to share it with the people,” she said.
Since it’s first tour 15 years ago, The Cup has traveled almost half a million kilometres to 377 destinations in Australia and New Zealand.
From Ballan The Cup will travel to Euroa and Echuca before returning to Melbourne in preparation for the race on Tuesday, November 7.
