Stephan formed part of the women’s fours crew that claimed victory at the titles in Sarasota, Florida.
She is a former Ballarat Grammar student, who won the prestigious Head of the Lake during her time at the school.
Stephan is expected to speak to Grammar’s senior female rowers and show off the spoils of her victory.
The successful Australian women’s team also included former Ballarat Clarendon College student Katrina Werry, who was the youngest member of the crew.
The two women partnered with Molly Goodman and Sarah Hawe to win the fours final ahead of runners-up Poland and bronze medallists Russia.
The crew’s gold medal was one of three for Australia at the championships.
