Sophie and her brothers Charlie, Fraser and Alex joined elite company this year by all playing in the Basketball Ballarat junior program.
This is the first time in eight years such a feat has been achieved, with four McMaster brothers being the last in 2009.
Basketball Ballarat chief executive officer Peter Eddy said the achievement was testimony to the Molans’ dedication to the sport.
He said back in August, 2014, with just two children playing representative basketball, the family became the public face of a campaign to get a new multi-purpose indoor stadium for Ballarat.
Eddy said once the new facility was constructed and the sport could be centralised in one complex, families such as the Molans would be a major beneficiary as they met the needs of multiple family members.
Sophie was part of the Rush under-18 program, which included playing in the Big V women’s youth championships.
Charlie played with the Miners’ under-16s and was also named as an emergency for the Vic Country under-16s.
Fraser earned a berth in the Miners’ under-12 squad – his first year in the junior elite teams program.
Alex was a member of the Miners’ under-14 squad.
