Ballarat Football Netball League’s biggest event is set to be held for the second-straight year at Mars Stadium.
The league’s 2018 draft fixture, which was released on Tuesday, has grand final day booked in for Saturday, September 22 at the city’s elite venue.
The 18-round BFNL season is poised to commence on Saturday, April 21.
A highlight of round one will be the senior grand final replay between Darley and Bacchus Marsh, which is scheduled to be held at Maddingly Park under the newly-installed lights.
The draft fixture has night football as a feature in the early part of the year, with 10 games booked to be under lights. All of these games are scheduled inside the opening five rounds of 2018.
Other highlights of the fixture include Redan’s first home game at the refurbished City Oval, which is set to take place in round three. The Lions will host Lake Wendouree.
“We are happy with the initial draft and the fact we have been able to find a balance between meeting most club requests and creating a fixture that is fair, balanced and promotes the league throughout the year,” incoming BFNL operations manager Shane Anwyl said.
The fixture will now be with clubs for consideration, with an opportunity to provide feedback.
“Whilst we could not cater to every club request, most have been accommodated and we will certainly be looking to work with clubs through the consultation period this week,” Anwyl said.
“Clubs will be able to submit potential changes, and although these cannot be guaranteed, we will endeavour to reach an outcome that is positive for the league and all clubs competing.
“For the first time ever, clubs will also be provided an opportunity to apply to have matches brought forward to be played on weekends prior to the scheduled start of the season.
“The BFNL is excited by this new initiative and providing clubs with an opportunity to showcase their marquee games and promote the league in a positive light.”
The final 2018 Ballarat Football Netball League fixture will be released prior to Christmas.
