The annual Ballarat Hospice Care memory trees are in place at Stockland Wendouree and Central Square Shopping Centre this week.
Everyone is welcome to buy a star and write their loved one’s name on it to place on a memory tree or to take home to place on their own tree.
Stars help raise funds for Hospice’s in-home palliative care service.
Memory trees are manned by Friends of Hospice and community volunteers until Sunday.
Palliative care demand in Ballarat has risen 18 per cent in the past year and 35 to 40 per cent of people who choose to die at home in Ballarat can access palliative care, compared to the state (27 per cent) and national (14 per cent) averages.
Ballarat’s hospice service also covers parts of the Hepburn, Moorabool and Golden Plains shires.
