Anglicare emergency relief coordinator Pauline Prebble said more non-perishables and toys for babies and teenagers were needed.
“For a lot of single people, this might be the only Christmas gift they get,” she said.
“Whether or not they need the physical food, there’s also a handwritten Christmas card that’s signed, and for a lot of people it’s as important as anything else, knowing that someone cared enough to give them a gift.
“Our emergency relief team has been run off their feet, so any non-perishables would be greatly received.
“We usually find just after Christmas when people have spent up big, the start of January is when we can get flooded with people needing help.”
Donations will be accepted up to December 22 during business hours at Power FM, 56 Lydiard Street North.
