NBL development player Nic Pozoglou will suit up for Ballarat Miners in the South East Australian Basketball League this year.
The Penrith 21-year-old is in his first season with the Illawarra Hawks.
The Hawks picked him up after he averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds a game with Bankstown in the Waratah league.
Pozoglou said he had heard a lot about Ballarat program from Illawarra teammate Kevin White, who played with the Miners in 2012, and Miners legend Eric Cookes, who is an assistant coach at the Hawks.
“I am looking forward to working on and bettering my game while in Ballarat.”
Miners head Coach Nathan Cooper-Brown describes Pozoglou as “ultra-athletic and versatile”.
He said Pozoglou’s skill-set would be crucial to the Miners’ style of play.
“Nic is hungry to excel, and he has all the tools to do it.
“He is the perfect candidate for our development program, and we know he is ready to do the work, which will translate to success in the SEABL, and importantly personal success for him in the NBL and/or overseas,” Cooper-Brown said.
His signing means the GMHBA Miners have just one place on its roster to fill.
