Horbury from Redan and former GWV Rebels player Aiden Domic are the Cats’ latest signings.
Geelong is Horbury’s second VFL club, having previously been with the now disbanded North Ballarat Roosters.
Domic goes to the Cats after being overlooked in the AFL national and rookie drafts.
From Mt Clear in the BFL junior competition, Domic was selected in the Vic Country under-18 squad last year and attended AFL combine testing in the lead up to the drafts.
Horbury played 38 VFL games with North Ballarat Roosters in 2013 and 2014.
With the Roosters also having a reserves team in the AFL Vic Development League at the time, Horbury had a full-time commitment to North Ballarat.
Horbury joins Geelong under different circumstances owing to the VFL team being an extension of an AFL club.
Horbury and Domic will be part of a 24-strong list which is used to top up the Cats’ VFL line-up. They are among the first 13 contracted, with former Rooster Luke Kiel also among them.
Horbury’s decision to have another tilt at the VFL adds further pressure to Redan, which has lost several key and experienced players in the off-season, including premiership players Damien Horbury and Mitch Phelps, and young ruckman Nick Hausler. Jacob Short and Chris Giampaolo will be overseas.
