Huge acts including Suzi Quatro, The Angels, Baby Animals, The Screaming Jets, Moving Pictures and Chocolate Starfish took to the stage to rock the socks off the people of Ballarat.
Punters endured a truly red hot start to the concert with the temperature at the beginning of the show at a sultry 31 degrees.
Duane McDonald from Regional Turing, who put on the Red Hot Summer Tour, said crowds were well behaved for the show.
“It’s been sold out at 5000 for weeks and everyone has turned up so we are at capacity by 7pm,” he said.
“It’s hot here for Ballarat but as the sun is going down everyone is in good spirits.”
Despite the heat, bands and patrons alike reveled in the music and good times of the performances and event organisers even had misting tents a free water stands set up to keep people cool in the heat.
However, Mr McDonald said the weather was nothing to the bands and crew that have spent all summer toruing around the hottest parts of the state.
“It was 43 two weeks ago where we were set up so really this is not hot at all, not in the scheme of things,” he said.
“It’s hot for Ballarat but I am just glad we caught heat today not the storm that came through on Friday.”
Red Hot Summer Tour MC Paul ‘PT’ Taylor said the Ballarat crowd was the best of the tour so far.
“Ballarat turned out for a rock and roll party and that is what we had,” he said.
“The audience who are older know how to party and party right.”
The tour has already performed to crowds in Mulwala, Mannum, Rottenest Island, Launceston, Mount Gambier and Mornington.
“It’s great to see events like this being held in Ballarat. We have really become a music Mecca,” Mr Taylor said.
“Especially now the brand has grown nationally, to he Red Hot Summer Tour stay in Ballarat is awesome.”
Mr McDonald and Mr Taylor confirmed the Red Hot Summer Tour will return to Ballarat in 2019, but a date and line up is yet to be announced.
Ballarat is one of 26 regional locations on the tour which Mr McDonald said brings business to towns.
