It’s believed the man allegedly stabbed the bouncer following an altercation on the corner of Mair and Camp streets in the early hours of Sunday.
The bouncer, a 23-year-old man, suffered injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital about 1am.
Police later arrested a Mount Helen man, 22, and charged him with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury and assault with a weapon.
He was bailed to appear at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on April 19.
It comes just weeks after an unrelated alleged assault at nightclub Bluestone.
A young man suffered serious facial injuries following the alleged bashing on December 10.
