Brett Aspland will break Ballarat Fire Brigade’s games record this weekend when he walks out against Coronet City this week in Ballarat Cricket Association one-day C grade action.

Aspland concedes he will be happy to have the milestone match over with after a long build-up and plenty of attention towards it – but it will no doubt be something he looks back on fondly.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Aspland said.
“It’s been coming for so long, I just want to get in there and get it over with and concentrate on the game.”
Saturday will be game 262, overtaking John Rinaldi.
The 49-year-old made the decision to call it a day due to work commitments which only allow him to play twice a month.
He has been with Ballarat Fire Brigade for 28 years and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Aspland sums up why he, and many others, love a Saturday afternoon of cricket.
“I love it, there’s always been a good bunch of blokes.
“Very low-key, don’t take it too serious, just enjoy our cricket and a couple of beers afterwards.”
Aspland does not expect the record to last long given the amount of games in the fixture now, but Saturday will be a special occasion nonetheless.
He holds the club record for runs – 8178 at an average of 33. While the four-time premiership player has also taken 21 wickets along the way.
