A two-car crash at a notorious Sturt Street intersection restricted inbound traffic for 40 minutes on Saturday afternoon.
Paramedics assessed two females at the scene, one in her 20s and the other in her 60s, with one taken by ambulance to St John of God Hospital in a stable condition.
The incident, at the corner of Sturt and Errard Streets, involved a silver Toyota Camry and two-door black Holden about 1.40pm.
Police and fire fighters were on scene with traffic cut to one lane.
The crash comes as VicRoads investigates making sweeping changes to traffic flow along Sturt Street.
The Errard Street intersection is one of six that could possibly be removed along Sturt Street.
The proposed changes are being driven by alarming crash statistics which highlight the intersections as among the most dangerous places on the road in the Ballarat CBD.
