Ballarat Community Garden’s chairperson, Sheilagh Kentish, said ‘Ballarat Apples’ are just one of the features at the annual Harvest Festival this Sunday.
The festival is the Community Garden’s biggest fundraiser.
Ms Kentish said the gardens were started as a place to grow vegetables cheaply, and has now become its own community.
“It’s a community coming together. We have people from different nationalities here and its really nice for them to be grounded, to feel at home and make connections,” she said.
“It’s basically all about connecting people together and giving them something nice to do while they’re doing it.”
Eclectic music, artworks, tables of food, and a number of talks and activities will fill the day. Ms Kentish, invites everybody to come an enjoy the “fabulous weekend”.
“We’d love to meet you and show you our garden, and what its like to be part of a group.”
The festival will run from 11am to 3pm this Sunday, at the community gardens.
