Point has a semi-final date with North Ballarat fresh after giving the Roosters a lesson in the last assignment of the home and away season.
Golden Point, 217, dismissed North Ballarat for a disappointing 85 at St Patrick’s College on Saturday.
Already with losses at the hands of the two other finalists in Wendouree and Mt Clear since the mid-season break, North Ballarat needed to show something with the bat in readiness for a finals campaign.
The Roosters started day two at 0-19, but struggled. Prabath Priyankara top scored with 22, but once he was gone there was little resistance as North lost 4-6 in the middle order and 3-3 at the end of its innings.
Simon Ogilvie, 3-16 off 11 overs, and Daniel McDonald, 2-5 off seven overs, did most of the damage in the middle order collapse.
The loss opened the door for Mt Clear to climb one position and finish third, with North Ballarat dropping to fourth.
Mt Clear will meet Wendouree in a semi-final after cruising home against Napoleons-Sebastopol at Mt Clear.
Naps-Sebas was always going to struggle to get near Mounties’ massive 6-389 and had to toil hard to get to 147 in its last appearance.
Jacob Eyers, 38, Will Ringin, 25, and Anthony Taylor, 25, all made starts, but a middle order collapse of 3-13 took the task for Naps-Sebas from extremely difficult to impossible.
Ash George was the pick of the Mt Clear bowlers with 5-62 off 21.5 overs.
Darley, 5-192dec and 1-60, defeated Brown Hill, 138, as each team brought down the curtain on disappointing campaigns.
The Bulls resumed at 6-80 facing the inevitable, with Cam Inglis giving the scoreboard some respectability with 46 runs.
East Ballarat finished on a high by chasing down Ballarat-Redan's 197 with one wicket to spare in BCA firsts at Alfredton on Saturday.
The Hawks looked in control at 7-195, but two wickets in the space of one run gave Ballarat-Redan hope.
Harli Givvens, 32 (5 fours), and Harry Ganley, 40, put East Ballarat on track early, but it suffered a middle order collapse.
The departure of Ganley sparked a run of 4-19 and at 7-125 East was in trouble as a run players reached double figures, but were unable to get out of the teens.
It took a captain's knock by Josh Brown of 52 (5 fours) off 61 balls to get East Ballarat home, although his departure with two runs needed and just one wicket in hand did have the Hawks on the edge of their seats.
Brendan Thomson was Ballarat-Redan's most successful bowler with 4-36, while Lachlan Snaith was almost a match-winner with 3-21.
