Club spokesperson Jen Couzens said it had been hard to recruit players in the Ballarat region.
“We were premiers two years ago but had a tough year last year in a higher division,” she said.
“The structure has been reorganised and we are looking forward to a positive season in 2018.
“Unfortunately, we had several players move interstate and back home overseas so we are a little low on numbers.”
Ballarat is part of a Rugby Victoria league and plays against sides from places such as Bendigo, Melbourne, Geelong and Shepparton.
This Tuesday’s come-and-try session will be held at Doug Dean Reserve from 6.30pm.
