Hooley was part of the Melbourne United team that defeated the New Zealand Breakers in a thrilling overtime battle on Monday night.
The 88-86 result, which came after a basket with less than a second on the clock, established United a 2-0 lead in the best-of-three semi-final series.
Hooley played more than nine minutes of the clash in Auckland and scored four points. He lined up alongside former Miners player Craig Moller.
The success has booked Melbourne United a first NBL grand final series.
United’s opponent is yet to be decided, but it will be either the Adelaide 36ers or the Perth Wildcats.
Hooley joined the Miners for the 2017 South East Australian Basketball League season and the club announced he had recommitted to another year in September.
This is his first NBL campaign with United.
