Already a Bulldogs’ hall of famer, he was elevated at the club’s season launch.
Grant was drafted from Daylesford when as the Demons they were playing in the Ballarat Foothall League.
Footscray used pick 105 in the 1988 national draft, with Grant making his senior debut as a 17-year-old in 1990.
He went on to play 341 games in 18 seasons – then a club record.
Grant was named in the Footscray-Western Bulldogs “Team of the Century” and is now the club’s director of football.
He twice went close to becoming a Brownlow Medallist.
He was second by one vote in 1996 and a year later polled the most votes but was deemed ineligible to win owing to being suspended.
