The CFA has requested no train travel past Waurn Ponds and services will only resume running on the line once V/Line is given the all clear from the CFA that it is safe to do so and the track has been inspected.
The 7am Southern Cross to Warrnambool service is terminating at Waurn Ponds, with passengers to continue their journey by road coaches to Colac.
The 7:37am Warrnambool to Southern Cross service will originate at Waurn Ponds.
Due to the fire’s proximity to the Princes Highway the train services cannot be replaced with road coaches for the majority of the Warrnambool line.
Last night, the 7pm Southern Cross to Warrnambool service was replaced by coaches at Camperdown so passengers could continue their journey.
Geelong line services are operating as scheduled.
V/Line is receiving regular updates from the CFA and is communicating all service changes via social media, the V/Line website, announcements and text messages and emails to those passengers signed up to Inform.
“The safety of staff and passengers is V/Line’s number one priority and we thank passengers for their patience and understanding while we work with the CFA to keep people safe,” V/Line said in a statement.
