The new Ella Sanders pop-up store opened last week on Victoria Street, but the journey to knitwear designer started out in Meredith.
Spending days at her grandparents’ sheep farm, she said she spent evenings next to her mother “always on the couch, every night, knitting some huge jumper”.
“My mother came from Meredith, she grew up with wool, and knitting was just a part of their life, because that’s how they got jumpers each season,” she said.
“Having such a strong family presence and history here, when this space came up, it was all aligned.”
The business continues to be a family affair, with sister Carolyn Sanders managing the store.
