The Strikers had its fair share of possession and chances, particularly in the second half – but were unable to find the back of the net.
While it was frustrating for the Strikers, to come away with one point on the road against a side that finished third in FFV women’s state league two last season was pleasing.
“As it went on we got better and stronger, but we just couldn’t get that ball in the back of net,” Coach Adam Vranesic said.
“I was frustrated after the game...but reflecting on the way home, to dominate the way we did as really positive – I’m more than happy with the first game of the season.”
Vranesic said defensively the side was very solid while he felt they won the midfield battle.
The Strikers return to their home venue of Morshead Park to face Lara United next Sunday.
