This weekend, a convoy of trucks will head down to fire affected communities in the south-west of the state to off-load what is hoped to be up to 800 bales for areas struggling to get back on their feet after bushfires.
`Need For Feed’, will stop off at depots in Jancourt East and Terang which will then see bales sent out to fire ravaged farmers.
Skipton farmer Adam Meek said the aim was to be able to provide enough feed to allow farmers to feed their stock over winter
“We’ve got 30-40 trucks organised plus a number of small vehicles which can carry anything like pet food as well,” Mr Meek said.
“We’re aiming to get about 700-800 bales, but we’d always love more.”
Mr Meek said despite a bit of rain at the weekend, fire affected farmers would not be able to have decent feed for the next four to five months.
