A committal mention in the Maryborough Magistrates Court today heard that Johnston will face two charges over conflicts of interest regarding superannuation in the Bendigo County Court in June.
A further 34 consolidated charges will be the subject of an eight-day contest mention at the Maryborough Magistrates Court in November.
The court heard the Inspectorate's submission to consolidate a number of charges to streamline the prosecution case. While 67 charges were originally served on Mr Johnston, this consolidation resulted in a total of 38 charges being presented to the court.
More than 20 witnesses are likely to be called at the November Maryborough hearing.
Johnston did not appear at today’s hearing.
